When it comes to your nails, there are a lot of options for one-of-a-kind decorative looks, but usually the choices are limited to color, some texture, and gluing small attachments such a jewels. These limitations are expanding with the concept of "wire nails" which add a new level of decoration and possibilities when it comes to nail art that sets you apart from the norm. Wire nails are reshaping the beauty world.
The hottest trend has manicurists creating stunning 3D designs on nails out of thin pieces of gold wire. The artist behind the idea is Eun Kyung Park, founder of Unistella, in South Korea, who is also the creator of glass, diamond, and gemstone nails. Inspired by neon signs, her nail renderings include stiletto tips, cuticle accents and even human faces.

These wire accents have a way of blending into the nail that gives them a look of unobtrusive elegance. One would think that adding gold wire to such a small canvass would make the area jump out, but these thin accents tend to bring out the rest of the nail art instead of taking over. They add a subtle beauty and can be a great addition to any "normal" design.

Thin wire is optimum because it is easy to manipulate and works best, says Park. Using tweezers, the shaped wire and decorative studs are then placed on clear gel polish, and cured under UV light. A top gel coats the nail for longer-lasting wear.
“The most popular nail designers are always thinking out-of-the-box to handcraft one-of-a-kind looks from unconventional resources,” said Gustavo Mitchell, owner of the SalonSupplyStore, a Palm-Beach Gardens, Fla.-ecommerce distributor of new and popular salon equipment and supplies. “Although some classic styles will never go away, manicurists will continue to push the envelope to create personalized looks that consumers demand.”
